Funkhaus is proud to welcome MURMURATIO  ARVE HENRIKSEN • JAN HEINKE • DEMIAN KAPPENSTEIN for  our new series of intimate Jazz concerts at Studio 4=Living Room.

We are offering a very limited number of tickets. This exclusive event promises to be an evening of pure sound and style.

The Funkhaus Jazz Sessions will focus on showcasing awesome musicians, up and coming talent and improvised music, in an intimate and cosy ambience inspired by Parisian jazz clubs. The wooden space of STUDIO 4 will open it´s doors as a club lounge in vintage style, which we call LIVING ROOM! A special space for special people - and music lovers!

Murmurations translates as swarms and heards but also pack.

They are everywhere – under the ocean, in pedestrian zones, in beehives and the galaxy. They’re on the run, wage war, intone symphonies, develop power. They adjust to each other within seconds, sometimes threatening, then full of grace and elegance.

Henriksen - Heinke - Kappenstein investigate the swarming behavior of quanta, animals, humans and planets in their research laboratory and tell in atmospheres, sounds and circuits what then finds in the listener to a rational logic.

Arve Henriksen is probably Norway´s most versatile musician of his generation, always on the move, always searching and exploring possible and seemingly impossible paths. He has worked with many musicians including Tigran Hamasyan, Bill Frisell, Nils Petter Molvær, Dhafer Youssef and Jan Bang.

Demian Kappenstein is an experimental drummer and creator of electronic soundscapes. Kappenstein has collaborated with Rolf Kühn, DJ Illvibe, Giora Feidman and Aki Takase. In his solo works he experiments with contemporary electronic sounds and trash-based percussion.

Jan Heinke plays self-built sounding sculptures and musical instruments such as steel cellos and hose pipe trumpets. In his performances Heinke implements electronic confusion and overtone singing techniques.
